A Libertarian, a Democrat, and a Republican run for President.

So Gary Johnson does a mea culpa in the Deseret News, regarding his intolerance of religious freedom.  He espouses the "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" mantra, which is different than Libertarian.  He has missed the point.  And he completely misses the fact that the Mormons were consistently harassed, and persecuted, and in one state, ordered to leave, or die.  Of course, Mormons are very on edge about anyone that wants to let the government run roughshod over a religion that does not conform with the government point of view.  Governor Johnson apparently is aware of the need to get Utah, which is reachable for him if he can figure this one out.  Note to Governor Johnson, the support you have gotten from many is due to the ideal that government doesn't make decisions for individuals, or businesses.  Remember, leave me alone and I leave you alone.

With Senator Sanders out of the race, we are not hearing about socialism in the Nordic countries and its application in the US.  I wanted to point out some flaws in that theory, as Democrats have put many of the ideas in their platform.  Just as a reminder, in Denmark, they have a 60% tax rate that includes most of the middle class.  We heard during the campaign that their desire was to put a similar tax on the "rich".  If the tax doesn't include everyone, then it will not be enough.  A 100% tax on the rich would not scratch the surface of the revenue required.  Why won't it work?

In those countries they know that healthcare, college, and everything else ISN'T FREE!  They know that they pay very high taxes, and then don't have to pay at the clinic.  Here, the proposed recipients actually think that all of that is.... FREE!  There is no concept that those benefits have to be paid by someone.

And as a reminder, many of these countries are now beginning to deport the Middle Eastern refugees that they had taken in.  Why?  Well, the main reason is that even though they are running from ruined states, they want to set up that ruined state in their new country.  They are not contributing to the economies, and are draining the resources of these countries, causing serious imbalances in access to healthcare, and other prepaid services.  Sweden has a population of about 9.5 million.  They have taken in 120,000 Middle Eastern refugees.  They plan on deporting about 80,000 of them.

One last thing.  To clarify, I do not support Donald Trump.  The one thing that Donald would bring to DC would be the idea of a bull in a china shop.  I have contemplated the dream of a libertarian changing Washington, and feel that that would be nearly impossible.  It may require someone to shake up the establishment to the point that they are no longer a cohesive force.  Make no mistake, when it comes to truly shredding government, both parties will join to fight that force.

A bull in a china shop.  I think that would make a great ad.  or a great political cartoon.
