Individuals are irrelevant. Only the collective
Treyvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Gardner, Freddie Gray, Katie Steinle. One of these things doesn't belong. Which? All became nationally publicized killings. All senseless, and completely unnecessary deaths.
One the result of an overzealous watch volunteer who found himself in over his head, leaving him only one recourse.
Another a person of interest, who when questioned by police went on a rage, attempting to take the officer's gun, and leaving the officer with only one option.
Another, openly violating NYC law, confronted by police who sized up the situation and overreacted.
The fourth, brandishing an illegal knife arrested, and subsequently died in police custody. The facts should come out in the upcoming trial, but whether justice is served is still to be determined.
Finally, a woman walking in a public place with her father, shot by an illegal immigrant having been deported 5 times and a felon. The results of the killings?
1. A trial that should never have occurred, except for political pressure from the feds, with an expected acquittal. Riots and protests ensued.
2. A grand jury bringing no charges against the officer because of brave witnesses who countered the testimony of the "hands up, don't shoot" crowd, Riots, property burned, looted, destroyed. Federal investigation which concluded that the officer acted appropriately.
3. Riots, Police being targeted and killed. Mayor pulling rug out from under police. Feds investigating.
4. Trial pending. Riots, police injured, property destroyed. Feds investigating.
5. Blame shifting due to sanctuary city policy, and feds countering. No federal investigation. No attendance by federal officials in a murder that the feds were at least un-indicted co-conspirators. The question is why? Why no feds involved in Katie Steinle's murder investigation? Here is my answer.
All of the above cases with the exception of Katie advance an agenda. The minority being preyed upon by authority. Local authority to be specific. The federal agents come in, undermine the authority of the local officials, and advance the meme that there is still rampant racism in this country.
The Steinle murder is much different. She is NOT a member of an aggrieved group. The culprit, however is. What would happen if the truth got out about the number of crimes being committed by illegals? Why are they trying to muzzle Donald Trump? You want to know? I suggest picking up Ann Coulter's book "Adios, America". She documents heavily the damage done in this country by illegals who have committed more crimes than just jumping the border.
Remember, that to the progressive, individuals don't matter. They are just statistics. But when an individual can stand in for a whole class, then stop the presses. A murdered young woman is just the cost of helping illegals feel safe. It takes the whole "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one" (Spock to Kirk Star Trek II) to a whole new level. While the sentiment is honorable, and completely voluntary, (See previous post) we should not use that as a government banner flying over us. That would be the banner of SLAVERY!!
This country was founded on the individual. The founding documents were written to ensure the rights of the individual. The greatest economic growth of a nation in the world's history was driven by the work of individuals with vision. The ability to fight for the individual is waning with each Supreme Court decision. The Bill of Rights is NOT collective set of rights, but of individual rights. If you like the post, please share it. If not, let me know why.
