Phil is blowing off steam today, so be forewarned.
Some very interesting polling data recently. An AP poll finds that while a plurality support gay marriage nationally, they also find that by a two to one margin, the public also supports the rights of wedding affiliated businesses, (bakery, photography, flowers) to not perform services for gay weddings, if they feel they are violating their religious beliefs. The poll does not support outright discrimination, rather, it supports choosing not to participate in the ceremony/celebration That is a surprise. It turns out that the first right listed in the Bill of Rights trumps in people's minds the made up right of universal marriage. Two to one!
Planned Parenthood, caught living up to everything it was founded on, namely genocide, apparently is also running an ebay shop on body parts. This is something that should enrage everyone. And, more importantly, it is a stark admission by the pro aborts that these are living human tissues. One of the aforementioned polls show that while the public may marginally be a majority pro abortion group, they are overwhelmingly a pro NO abortion after 5 months. Even to the point of banning any procedure after 20 weeks. This stands in stark contrast to the Democratic Party position that it isn't human until it leaves the hospital. The Supreme Court has forgotten, and the progressives have forgotten that while horribly crafted as law, Roe v Wade only guaranteed the right to kill your offspring for the first trimester.
The argument always was that the government shouldn't have any say over what a woman does with her body. I remember my brother making the argument that any libertarian worth his salt would be not only pro life, but staunchly so. I mean, when life begins isn't an argument, it is swept under a rug. But I would say, "who's rights are most at risk in our society?" Obviously the unborn.
Much has been made of the Chattanooga shooting. I love the "why" that is being asked. Of course there are many factors involved, but certainly radical Islam is probably lurking around somewhere. Many say that the fact that we have made a deal with Iran allowing it the capability of nuking our allies will have an impact on Rand Paul's chances, as he is a more libertarian Republican. People are not listening to Rand. They said he wants to withdraw foreign aid from Israel. No, he wants to limit foreign aid to everyone, as it is wrong to borrow money to give to other nations. They said that his libertarian roots would make him shun war. That is true, but he has argued that if we are going to fight, we should have a Congressional Declaration of War. Gee, that sounds awful constitutional to me.
Speaking of Rand Paul, today he released videos of him destroying the 70,000 page US TaxCode. Burning, Chainsaw, or Woodchipper. You can watch all three at randpaul.com Imagine a single page return, a single page code. No FICA tax. In case you are wondering, this really doesn't matter, no matter what anyone says, as the money all comes out of the general fund anyway. His tax rate? 14.5%. Individuals, Businesses, Everyone. By the way, no corporate kickbacks, no mega business paying little or no income tax, Everyone, 14.5.
Finally, Donald Trump. Republicans should be very careful about how they treat him. He has found what anyone at the grassroots knows, average, everyday US Citizens are royally unhappy about the immigration issue, and how both parties are at fault. He has tapped into that, and the fact that he answers to no one, (Big donors, big media, beltway politicians) means he can speak, and even though he may say things that aren't particularly wise, all they do is point out to the public that he isn't ONE of THEM! Whether he is a serious candidate or not, doesn't matter. He can go the distance without a single donor, and if made a pariah, he could go third party, and while I am not sure he can win, ( I wouldn't bet against him, especially if it is establishment Bush, vs. establishment Clinton) he can certainly spoil the election for the GOP.
