the debate
Notice that the one person that they didn't ask about how they would cut government spending was Senator Paul? He just kind of laid back, and pounced when the opportunity provided. If you are a fan of liberty, if you think that the government should not be tapping your phone, you should support Senator Paul. If you believe that there are no sacred cows in DC, when it comes to budgets, then you should support Sen. Paul. If you believe that we should have a strong military, being used in accordance with the US. Constitution (Declaration of War, instead of make believe Authorizations of Use of Military Force, you should support Sen. Paul.
The others? Obviously opinions will vary, but I feel that the ones that had the most to lose tonight were Senators Rubio, and Cruz. I feel that they were damaged. Irreparably? Probably not. Cruz wore the badge of being hated by the DC Cartel as a badge of honor. He struggles making his past agree with what he interprets it as being today. Of course he wasn't alone. Rubio was hit hard on Amnesty of course, and rightly so. It is a sad day when Jeb! makes you look bad. He did get in some good hits on Cruz, but many of those rebounded on him as well.
I felt Jeb! had a decent debate. For once he stood on his positions, which I admire. (even if I disagree).
Governor Christie had a decent night. He was articulate, and played from his strengths. He is a blue collar lawyer. And it is obvious that he relates to people. I don't think he is the brilliant lawyer that Senator Cruz is, but I think that is actually a strength for him.
Kasich, he hides behind his Christian faith propelling him to take money from people to give it to other people. That is what the Medicaid scam is at the end of the day. An exhaustive study by the state of Oregon determined that people had worse care under Medicaid than no coverage at all. Oregon. Hardly a red state.
Fiorina did an excellent job at the kiddie table. I think that there will be some serious winnowing after the caucus Monday.
Trump. This should be a warning to all who are supporting the outsider. He will only play ball as long as he is winning. Yes his media coverage was far greater for not having been in the debate. He will probably go up in the polls. Probably will be the nominee. Can one person simply ask him these questions?
"Does the President's Executive Actions/Orders exceed his authority under the Constitution?"
And "What real authority does the President have regarding some of his pet projects, ie building a wall (other than the 700 miles that has been funded by Congress), arbitrarily taking remittances to Mexico to pay for it, and these unilateral trade deals he talks about?"
Please, someone just ask him!
I have put out a couple of questions for comment, as I am working on a paper for my American Government class. They are:
What form of government did the Founders create?
Do we still have that form of government?
If you think no, why?
I would appreciate any feed back you could provide.
One last thing. I noticed today that many people are under the misunderstanding that Rick Santorum won Iowa in 2012. For those who are junkies, we recall that they initially called it for Governor Romney, recounted and changed it to Santorum. However. At the GOP convention, it turns out the Iowa delegates were committed to........Congressman Ron Paul, R-TX. DO NOT underestimate the ground game of the Paul family in Iowa.
