Time to dump the GOP. Can I get an Amen?

Well, it was a foregone conclusion, but at least it is on the record. Senator Paul put forward his budget proposal.  For those that have only recently started following politics, this is what the Congress is supposed to do, although it should originate in the House, but it is in the Senate where everything is FUBAR.  (I don't know what that stands for, but I hear it means that it is all screwed up.)  And so, Senator Paul used some Senate rules to get his budget to a vote.  It lost, and of course that was going to happen, but... Do you think your Senator is conservative?  Are you dazzled by their "tea party" lingo when they come around every 6 years looking for your vote?  When was the last time you fell for their load of chataqua?  Me, it was 2014, when they begged for money and talked about "if only we had the Senate" stuff.  yeah, I hopped off at the next station.  Well, actually not,  I couldn't stay on that train another minute....

Smoot Hawley revisited.

First I would like to say that it really sucks that because of the pandemic TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) in the media, I have spent so much effort to defend against these wackos.  There is plenty to criticize, but until the overwhelming, day after day, constant barrage of attacks by the mainstream media (which Rush refers to, correctly in this case, as the Drive By media)  settles down, and they decide to have sane discussions, then even libertarians write in defense of Trump, and I am by no means, the only one.  But there is plenty to talk about, and here goes. Remember in the campaign, when Nabisco announced they were moving their OREO production to Mexico?  And Mr. Trump criticized Nabisco for sending those jobs out of country, and how we need to protect our businesses?  I think I wrote about this when it happened, but here is the thing.  Are wages cheaper in Mexico?  Of course they are, partly because of the taxes, and requirements of the Af...

WWLBPS?

Of course, the answer is easy.  To paraphrase a cereal commercial.   "silly girl, Scouts are for boys" .  Hey, I am just guessing,  he was from a different generation, but that is probably the mild version.  Let the hate fly.  I don't write for popularity, I am no  secondhander. Hopefully those that do read will keep reading to get an explanation for such a bombastic statement. Of course, the things that Boy Scouts do are not gender/sex specific.  I get it.  I know.  But guess what?  Boy Scouts aren't about the things that are done. The things the Boy Scouts stand for are not gender/sex specific.  I know. I get it.  But guess what? That isn't why Scouts are for boys.  By the way, what are those things? Duty to God ;  Duty to Country ;  Duty to Others ;  Obedience to the Scout Law ;  Physical Fitness ;  Mental Fitness ;  Moral Fitness . Those things they do can be fun, in...

Is taxation theft? #taxationistheft

Collecting more taxes than absolutely necessary is legalized robbery -Calvin Coolidge I like that nuanced description better than the simple taxation = theft. How about another similar quote: Why is it greed when I want to keep more of my money, but it is not greed when you want to keep more of my money?  Thomas Sowell. I use the Thomas Sowell quote because that helps to establish the bar for what is necessary. We the People .  Is how the Constitution begins.  And the purpose? In order to form a more perfect union.   How the national government should be structured, with legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and how they interacted, and the checks and balances with each other. Establish Justice, and Insure Domestic Tranquility .  When those inalienable rights granted by God are violated, there needs to be a court to adjudicate it.  This has been the case probably from the beginning of time, and in the Judeo tradition, before the King...

They're going to send your butt to college, I mean vote

Of course, first, the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyIFqf3XH24 Remember back in the day, when the broadcast networks actually taught how the government was supposed to work?  Before starting this tutorial on the Electoral College, as a reminder on past elections: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF39O_OQm6M The candidates in 2016 knew they were running to win 270 electoral votes.  That was the goal.  They knew that the popular vote meant nothing.  Right?  They all knew the rules.  They all knew the math to get there.  And for those that don't care to remember, As late as the end of October, the Clinton campaign was preparing for a scenario where THEY won the Electoral College, and lost the popular vote.  So it has been since the Twelfth Amendment. (ratified 1804).  That is all in the past.  All she had to do was maintain the Blue wall of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.  She didn't.  Of course, all Algo...

Swampin' the boat

A few hits tonight. People say that all the turnover in the Administration is a sign that President Trump doesn't know what he is doing.  I would say that there is a learning curve, but that he needs people for certain things, and then moves on. I sure wish the media would at least point out the same things happened in the Obama Administration.  Scott Pruitt has taken a lot of trips, yes, he has flown first class, yes.  I don't excuse that, nor do I excuse the charter flights.  After all, when you are changing the dynamic of a whole department, there are security issues in-house, as well as abroad.  Eco-terrorists are known to not be kind to those that have counter view points, especially when they represent  government policy as does Pruitt.  Security is much easier that way.  Oh, by the way, Obama's EPA Administrators took similar lavish trips, in similar fashion, without a peep from the press.  Oh, and the first one, used a pseudo-name...

a letter to the speaker

The Honorable Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, I know you are getting a lot of flack right now, and while I may agree with a good deal of it, this is not the purpose of my letter.  I don't understand how you passed this leviathan of a budget.  You,of all people.  But again, not my point here.  I know that if the Senate would eliminate the filibuster, the bills you would send would be far different.  I get it, but here are some ideas about how to minimize risk in the upcoming midterms. Invite your committee chairs to hold hearings on the Democrat's wacko bills.  There would be nothing better than forcing votes in committee and on the floor for some of these things.   How about H.J.Res 19 and 65?   These two proposals to eliminate the Electoral College deserve a hearing.  And especially they deserve votes by those members whose states will be diminished when it comes to Presidential elections.  Think about the possibilitie...
