In defense of the tribe

Image
tribe /trīb/ Learn to pronounce noun 1. a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader. First, let me comment by saying that this would normally be written over Ontherim, but feeling that emotions may get the better of me, so wanted to put it over on the more passionate side of the brain, and let it flow.   Second, the disclaimer that I speak for myself and no one else.  It is my opinion, and while there may be others that agree, it is mine alone.  I am part of a group, but DO NOT speak for them. So, as a reference above, can I just point out that the term tribe is not limited to native american culture, it is a more general reference to groupings, and is a term used globally.  It has been mentioned frequently in conjunction with various n...

Speaker Pelosi

The following is an open letter to the Speaker of the House. Madam Speaker, While I am not a constituent of your Congressional District, nor is my member a member of your caucus, I am writing to you as a Constituent of the House of Representatives, which you have the privilege of leading for this session of Congress.  Too often our political system is bogged down in the morass of the swamp of DC.  I don't use the term the way the President does, by the way, but rather as a frustration of people in the nation that can clearly see that DC doesn't work.  We all see it.  President Trump was elected because it didn't work.  Do you understand that?  Millions of Democrats went to the polls in 2016 and pulled the lever for Trump because they felt alienated.  I am writing because you have taken an oath of office, are second in succession to the Presidency, and you have a job to do. Madam Speaker, you took an oath to uphold the Constitution.  I know...

Abort! Abort! Abort!

Yes, a moral issue showing up on the Lib.  However it is far more political than moral at this point. First, I would just like to point out that previous opinions offered here have been simply my own.  Today, for the first time, I am writing with an accreditation in Political Science.  So you may now give my "educated" opinion the appropriate due. Can we say, since Roe vs Wade was decided in 1973, that while there have been skirmishes from time to time, the US has been in a state of detente when it comes to this issue?  The American people support abortion for the first 20 weeks of pregnancy.  After 20 weeks, that opinion sharply changes, with 75%  against aborting late term pregnancies, with the asterisked exception of the life or health of the mother. This long term detente is over.  It is war.  Full disclosure, my personal opinion is that abortion is wrong, but that it was the law of the land, with restrictions.  So, what broke the...

Citizenship of the United States.

This one will be short, or that is my intent. Right now, having heard oral arguments for the case regarding the Citizenship question on the 2020 US Census.  If this case is anything other than 9-0, the House and Senate should start impeachment hearings on those Justices that voted against a question on Citizenship.  It very likely won't be, unfortunately.  What is all the commotion? In briefs before the Supremes, the arguments being made are laughable, and make a mockery of our judicial process.  They argue: That illegals (their argument was undocumented but they are here illegally) won't fill out the Census because they will be hunted down and deported.  This argument was made by the California AG, as well as some county in Texas, whose population of illegals merits a Congressional seat on its own (they actually argued that) The House's brief, filed by the Speaker's office actually insinuated that illegals will be breaking the law by not filling out the...

Random musings

While there is no question that the 22nd Amendment was written so that we would never have another as near King as we had with FDR, it was not passed to prevent him from running for a 5th term.  By the time it was considered and sent to the states, FDR was dead.  Of course, that is old history, but it seemed to have been dredged up by AOC, who got it wrong.  Speaking of getting our Constitution wrong... Senator Gillibrand, D-NY, and candidate for the Democrat 2020 presidential nomination, said recently that we need to get back to our roots of "one person, one vote".  Of course she was referring to the Electoral College, and the need to get rid of it.  I mean, it seems to me that the Electoral College was created BY the Founders as part of the Constitution.  You see, the Founders understood that leaving the choice of the President to the majority would leave the government at risk of being hijacked by that majority, leaving the minority to be trampled upon...

Mr. President, America will never be socialist?

I would be remiss without calling this one out. The bull in the china shop has done much to curtail regulations.  No one can question that.  Considering that he has to fight not only an entrenched bureaucracy, but also a Congress that never met a regulation it didn't like, he has done remarkably well.  This one is bipartisan.  And it has to stop.  Congress passes "frameworks", themselves hundreds or thousands of pages, and hands them off to the Deep State, or Swamp, where it takes those hundreds or thousands of pages and turns them into thousands or tens of thousands of pages. There is no accountability in the Deep State, they are permanent civil service, impervious to politics, or even job performance for that matter.  Guess where else there is no accountability?  Congress.  That is right, Congress can point their fingers at the Deep State and be aghast at what was spawned. In other words, there is no accountability, except at the Oval offic...

The 2020 DNC Primary is on!

First, a word. I would not attack members of Congress, or any politician because of religion, race, or other individual personal characteristic, for two reasons.  One, I couldn't care less what their status is, so long as they understand they swore an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution.  Second, people whose argument is so weak they have to hide behind their victimhood and imagined attacks on it, have no business in Congress.  But, as others throw the race, gender, or other card, I guess that is to be expected.  When the Democrats can't pass a resolution condemning Rep. Omar (D-MN) for her slurs of Israel, which is how it began, by the time it was modified, Rep. Omar (the person that was to be admonished with this resolution) ended up voting for some watered down version condemning hate, or something. But.  When one previously worked for Hamas, like Omar, (their US PR firm, CAIR and is still raising money for them), we need to be very careful about their m...
