Now what?
So, I have been mulling over last night's campaign ending defeat for Senator Ted Cruz. I have been pointing out for months that Donald Trump is no conservative, but thought at least an olive branch. Not even such. He accused Ted Cruz of having 5 affairs on the campaign trail. He accused Ted's father of conspiring with Lee Harvey Oswald on the Kennedy assassination. He called him Lyin' Ted.
I guess I should concede before going on that the Donald did indeed admit that he only pushed the Kennedy conspiracy to help sell issues of the Enquirer, and he didn't actually believe it, which was the opposite of what he said the day before. There.
So, what does Senator Cruz do? Many feel that Reagan's endorsement, not of Ford, but of Conservatism, may have doomed the Ford re-election. Who knows. He is young, and may have more opportunities in the future. He is caught in a bad way, If he endorses Trump, he will lose support of the conservatives, and most will think him a sell out, Unless, see below. If he doesn't endorse, then he will be blacklisted in the Senate, and if he tries to run in 2018, then he will be primaried by the establishment to get rid of him, and it will likely happen. I don't envy him.
But what about those of us who feel that Trump is not a conservative, and he is essentially a white, currently Republican, Obama. (narcissist, check, megalomaniac, check, burning to wield power, check.) By the way, in a previous post, I questioned those that spoke against President Obama for his excessive use of power, and yet are all in supporting Trump doing the same thing, nominally because he is using that power for our stuff, and why.
Of course the establishment (that is against Trump?) would say, "We have to stop Hillary, and if you don't vote, or vote for a 3rd party, then that is a vote for Hillary." I am tired of that statement, and I think it is past its best used by date. "Give us the Congress, and we will stop the President". "Give us the Senate, and we will stop him" President Ezra Taft Benson, prophet and former President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints said:
If you vote for the lesser of two evils, you are still voting for evil and you will be judged for it.
So rather than tell me that I should vote against Hillary, make a case for why I should vote FOR Trump. It really is that simple. Because, let me tell you how, if that is your argument, I can refute it easily.
If Hillary is President, and we have a Republican Congress, or at least one House, they likely will dig in, and at least put up a pretense of opposition. If Trump is President, then a Republican Congress will do his bidding, essentially enacting much of the Progressive agenda. Don't believe me on the agenda? Today Trump said that he is willing to discuss raising the federal minimum wage. After saying last fall that it was too high, and that it was costing jobs.
So, tell me, why should I vote FOR Donald Trump?
I will not vote for the lessor of two evils anymore. I saw the author Brad Thor state that if Trump promised to nominate Senator Cruz to the Supreme Court, that would help, significantly, but it is not enough for me. Would putting a hard core conservative such as Senator Jeff Sessions as VP? That would help.
So tell me, in all seriousness, why should I vote FOR Donald Trump? I speak for myself only, but know that there are thousands, or maybe millions that feel that they can't vote for Trump, and it would be very difficult for Trump to win, if the conservatives that he has done nothing but trash, either stay home, or cast their votes to the Libertarian nominee. If they stay home, not only does Hillary win, but a Democrat Senate, and worst case, a Democrat House.
Don't project on what you think he will do, Tell us why?
