Burn it down! quick hits

I do not refer to those thousands of Civil Servants who simply act based on direction from above in comments on Civil Service.

Deep State is a term being thrown around regarding permanent civil service employees embedded in high positions in the Administration.  These are people who are so far left of center they would have to look right to see Stalin.  They hate Trump.  They hate Republicans.  They despise America.  Here is the deal.  They have a right to their political opinions.  I don't dispute that.  But they should formulate and implement policy based not only on the positions of the current Administration, but the current Congress as well, rather than bide their time for the next Democrat, going through the motions of following direction.   So regardless of how much they hate Trump, they have to understand that he is President.  The sabotage created by the Security apparatus needs to be fixed.  The problem?  They have so much on everyone that any one that wanted to, say, eliminate most of their jobs would find their personal lives all over the NY Times.

I am being serious when I say  intentionally compromising classified or privacy protected information should be a capital offense.

Many heralded Edward Snowden for what he did, but I would say that he is paying a price for it.  He is living in Russia, and will be put in prison if he ever comes home.  Julian Assange is holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, fearing a change in the government that would kick him out.  The leakers need to be ferretted out, and punished.  SEVERELY.  I know, you are saying.  "Where were you when leaks were coming out of the Obama government?"  Yeah, I think people spilling lawfully classified information, or privacy act protected information should be in irons, regardless of party.  And, by the way, they wouldn't have leaked because they share an ideological kinship with the Democrats.

How about easing restrictions on refugees, IF the sponsors agree to accept civil and criminal liability for a time period of at least two years?

Republicans are making the same mistakes the Democrats did.  Getting bogged down in healthcare reform was probably the worst thing they could do.  Tax replacement is necessary. And what are they doing?  They are proving that all those repeal bills were just theater.  Now that they control the House, Senate, and the White House, and  they could easily run through the bill that President Obama vetoed in the last Congress, they don't even want to put that bill to a vote.  Why aren't they?

Funny, in 2012, we heard that Russia being the enemy was the foreign policy of the 1980s.  What changed?

While fussing about the wall, and who will pay for it, a far cheaper alternative would be to move the US Army to the border to patrol the areas in between crossings.  Maybe warning shots from an M16 would have discouraged the Mexican Congressman from standing on top of the fence.  Don't think that I am some xenophobe.  I am not.  I am all for legal immigration.  And really without limits, so long as no benefits are given to those that come across.  I have explained that in other posts.  We probably wouldn't even need a wall.

Gary Johnson has announced that he will not run for President again. Hallelujah!.  Maybe next time, the Libertarians can run a real libertarian.  Not one that calls out the jack booted thugs.

I wonder if the NY Times is willing to surrender its First Amendment rights, like they expect bakers and florists to do.  After all, Freedom of the Press is not the first right guaranteed by the First.  That would be Religious Freedom.  The first of all rights.

Civil Service reform is a must!  Also, Tax replace, not reform!
