Random meanderings

Well, I guess Governor Northam D-VA is a good Democrat. Spending his younger years in a Klan hood and blackface.  Typical of someone that thinks it is okay to deliver a baby and then determine whether it lives or dies.  By the way, is it just me, or is it horrifying that people are calling for his resignation, not because he advocates murdering children after birth, but for wearing a Klan hood back in the day.

Speaking of abortion.  Contrary to popular belief, 90% of late term abortions are elective, meaning not necessary either due to a health crisis to the baby, or a medical emergency of the mother.

Want some other statistics?  Sure,

Even though blacks only make up 13% of the population, they account for 33% of all abortions.  Hmmm, That sounds interesting, what else?

Half of all black pregnancies result in abortion.  HALF, 50%.

75% of all black children that survive the above number are raised in a single parent home.

Can you believe the racism in this country?  Of course the world is against them, causing all of this, wait, what?

Only 22% of black children lived in a single parent home in 1960, before the Civil Rights Act, before the Great Society came in and rescued the impoverished.  Was discrimination worse then than now?  Really?  What a stupid question.

Minimum wage laws?  Davis Bacon laws for federal projects?  What was the original purpose for them?  If you said to deny work to black men, you should go to the head of the class.  Still on the books, FYI.

In the late 1940s, there was a minimum wage, yet young black male employment was greater than the same demographic for whites, wonder why?  Oh, because inflation had rendered the minimum wage irrelevant.  They fixed it though, so that young black men had that bottom rung taken from them.

Keys to not living in poverty?
1. Graduate High School
2. Get married before you have children

If you follow those two steps, regardless of race, the percentage of people living below the poverty line is single digits.

Venezuela has had it with Maduro.  Most of western Europe joined in recognizing Guaido as the legitimate president.  It wasn't a coup, contrary to what most of the US haters say.  It was constitutional.  Who doesn't recognize Guaido?  Follow the money.  Russia, China, both of whom hold extensive bonds that Maduro received.  .

I watched some of the Super Bowl, apparently I missed the best part, the Star Spangled Banner sung by Gladys Knight before the game.  I have since watched it, and she was glorious.  So many were against the Pats, not me.  Yes they beat the Chiefs, yes there were some iffy calls.   But the Rams were beneficiaries of one of the worst non-calls in NFL history, if not THE worst.  It was nice seeing they lost.

It used to be that Democrats flirted with Socialism, but now they are all in.  Just check out the declared candidates for President 2020:

Senator Warren, wants a wealth tax, and an income tax.  Oh, she also wants to nationalize pharmaceuticals.
Senator Harris, wants to ban private insurance, forcing all into a VA on steroids plan.
Senator Booker, more of the same, it seems most have signed on to the 70% income tax for "the rich".
Senator Sanders, owns three homes, never worked in the private sector, proclaims FREE! from the rooftops.
Julian Castro, former Obama cabinet member.
Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend
Senator Gillibrand used to be pro-gun, pro-life, and friend of Clintons.  After using them for all she could, has dropped them due to liabilities.
Rep. Gabbard, may have a Russia problem?
VP Biden, in this group, he is without a doubt the sanest of all.
Hillary.  nothing needed to say here.

What do they all have in common?  They all shout FREE! from the rooftops.  They all want some form of universal health care, free tuition, and massive taxes on the producers.  Of course, we still have to go through the point scoring, because things like race, gender, orientation etc are far more important than actual policy positions.

You know it is bad for the Dems when Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, announced he is thinking about running (as an Independent) because of all that looniness listed above (minus Biden), and the Democrats go ballistic.  There is a path to victory for him, not 270 electoral votes, more in a future post.

State of the Union tomorrow.  I would have reverted to Silent Cal, who was the last president to not speak before Congress.  It could go so many different ways.  Guess we just have to wait and see.

A word about the wall, or barrier, or fence.  Do I think we need to build the Great Southwest Wall?  Of course not.  The terrain can be prohibitive, and of course so much of that property is private, subject to eminent domain, if the owner wouldn't want some protection in areas of high traffic. (of course, the question begging to be answered is: why is most of Nevada, Idaho and other western states federal lands, but at least a right of way along the border isn't?)  That becomes costly.  So many issues.  Tunnels to go under, breaches, and so on.  Here is the thing.  Barriers work.  When a barrier is breached, it is unlikely that it is some poor farmer looking for a new life.

Nineteen people were arrested for immigration fraud for facilitating birth tourism, where tourists come to the US, give birth, and leave with a US Citizen baby, a passport for same, and the ability to return and get aid whenever they like.  The 14th Amendment, stretched waaaay beyond intent.  Another time.
