Holocaust Redux
Simple post tonight. The following US Senators voted to place an existential threat on Israel, a dirty bomb possibility in the US, and our soon to be former middle eastern allies arming themselves on the black market with nukes.
In alphabetical order
Baldwin, D-WI Bennett, D-CO Blumenthal, D-CT Booker, D-NJ Boxer, D-CA Brown, D-OH Cantwell, D-WA Carper, D-DE Casey, D-PA Coons, D-DE Donnelly, D-IN Durbin, D-IL Feinstein, D-CA Franken, D-MN Gillibrand, D-NY Heinrich, D-NM Heitkamp, D-ND
Hirono,D-HI Kaine, D-VA King, I-ME Kloubuchar,D-MN Leahy, D-VT Markey, D-MA McCaskill, D-MO Merkley, D-OR Mikulski, D-MD Murphy, D-CT Murray, D-WA Nelson, D-FL Peters, D-MI Reed, D-RI Reid, D-NV Sanders, I-VT Schatz, D-HI Shaheen, D-NH Stabenow, D-MI Tester, D-MT Udall, D-NM Warner, D-VA Warren, D-MA Whitehouse, D-RI Wyden, D-OR
They opted to put the President over national security, trusting the Iranians to not cheat on their word. I am reasonably certain that some of their words we can take to the bank. "Death to America" and "Death to Israel". They have already said they will cheat, we will have no access to Nuclear sites, and the International Atomic Energy Agency will allow the Iranians to self inspect their militarized nuclear site. Plus, the President has told the Europeans, that, contrary to American Law, if Iran is caught cheating, and sanctions are placed on Iran, businesses conducting business with Iran will be allowed to continue to do business in the US.
As revolting as the vote above is, there is something far worse, that brought us to this point. All signs point to Senator Mitch McConnell, R-KY, and to a lesser extent, Senator Bob Corker, R-TN. Senator Corker authored a bill that would force a two thirds vote to say no to the deal, instead of the Constitutionally mandated two thirds vote to enact a treaty. This only came about because of McConnell, and his desire to, I don't even know. I think it is fluff to the GOP base, to show that they are standing up to the President, while he gets his way. I mean, now that the Senate can't even take it up, the agreement goes into effect, as opposed to the President negotiating the deal, and then not bothering with Congress. No difference. Senator McConnell, we are not fooled.
What would have been awesome had McConnell said, on the Dems sustaining a Veto, that, as the Treaty failed to get a two thirds vote, it is negated. I think I would have donated to the Republicans, had that happened. Stop laughing, I know it never would have happened.
