Two down.

It is with some sadness that I learned that Governor Scott Walker has suspended his campaign for President.  He is the second, with the first being Governor Rick Perry.  These two men have, in their own way, provided a pathway to solving the problems we have as a nation.  I think both realized, in fact, Governor Walker basically said, that it is time for the conservative wing of the GOP to coalesce around a single candidate, if it is to have any hope of beating an establishment candidate, such as Bush, or Christie, or the ultimate outside insider, Trump.  I salute the patriotism of these men. Neither was my first choice, but I could have easily supported each one.

Governor Walker laid out the course of changing, and saving the state government of Wisconsin from eventual bankruptcy, by working a change in the collective bargaining laws.  It is ironic that the ultimate progressive, the one Democrats hail nationwide, Franklin Roosevelt, while supporting  unions in the private sector, thought it was completely inappropriate for the public sector to be unionized.  The cradle of public sector unions was Wisconsin, and now Governor Walker has put the state on a course that in the long run will save billions of dollars.  Make no mistake, I am not opposed to public sector unions, in fact I work very closely with one in my day job.

Governor Perry had a small government dream.  He was the governor of a state with one of the world's largest economies, a state that singlehandedly accounted for most of the job creation since the recession, and because of the mandates of the state constitution, was limited on how he could oppress the private sector.  Consequently, Texas boomed, while the nation whimpered along.

So now, conservatives have fewer choices.  We can discount out of hand, Graham, Pataki, Gilmore.  These establishment has beens are in, why?  How many people support them that don't have  the same surname? (okay, there is not doubt that McCain supports his buddy, Graham) So, we are left with, in no particular order, Cruz, Paul, Rubio, Paul, Carson, Paul, Jindal, and Paul, I think that is it for the proven conservative, take no prisoners, wing of the GOP.  There are the unknowns of Fiorina, and the first bench ESTABLISHMENT types of Bush, Christie, Kasich, and Huckabee.  And then there is the progressive, Trump.  I used to be curious about his campaign, but am no longer.  In fact, I would herald a warning to the GOP regarding Trump.  He is no conservative, and were someone that craves power, and is used to dealing on his own, as he does, get in the White House we could go down a very dangerous road.  Especially after the precedents that have been set by past presidents, mostly the current occupant, I think many would blindly follow, and the GOP would do nothing.

No one has voted, and the media is controlling what polls are released, the questions being asked, and how they are framed.  Our form of government requires an educated citizenry to function correctly.  Is it too late?
