Should we care? Yes. Will we?
I find it very interesting that the desperation in the Clinton camp is soooo apparent, that they are not even trying to hide it anymore. The New York Times (one of many dedicated PR organs for the Clinton camp) reports that Trump had a disastrous year in 1995, and may still be reaping the tax consequences today. Legally. That is the key word in this whole scheme. L-E-G-A-L-L-Y. Trump's people should be all over it. They should point out that what he did was legal, ethical, and moral, according to current tax policy, and that a CEO that didn't would be fired for failing to do his or her job. It is what every other corporation or person does in similar circumstances, and use it as an example of why the tax code needs to be reformed. None of those supporting Clinton want it. Warren Buffet bemoaning how little he pays in taxes doesn't want it. Here is how it works.
The top corporate bracket is 38% or so. The HIGHEST in the industrialized world. Trump wants to cut it significantly. The Democrats don't want that, but the reason is not what you think. They want the percentage to stay high because there are so many loopholes that they end up paying little, if any, federal tax, and by advocating keeping it high it eases their guilt. If Trump were to get his plan enacted, it would reduce the percentage, but would close, or eliminate most loopholes. Most of the large corporations would pay more.
GE is a great example. They got the Congress to ban incandescent light bulbs. Why? I know, energy efficiency, blah blah blah. or maybe it was because they wanted to shut down their factories in the US, and make the curly qs in Mexico. GE, by the way pays almost no federal income tax, despite billions in revenue. Did I mention that the CEO of GE is on the President's council of economic advisers? (or was?)
I would argue that corporations don't pay taxes, they are expenses factored into the cost of business. Consumers of goods and services pay corporate income tax. They should be eliminated.
We are talking about Trump's taxes because the race card didn't work. They are desperate, because at the end of the day, if the white vote shows up, it is all over for Hillary.
Trump, as a businessman, had to pay to play, as EVERY businessman does. He should be pointing that out in the "what's wrong with government" mantra. Every stop he should say it. He should also hammer daily that blacks have been screwed by the Democrat machine for 50 years, and that they couldn't do any worse that current conditions with Trump as president. I would also point out to hispanics that the Democrats are trying to do to them what they did to blacks.
Hey RNC! Hey Donald! GARY JOHNSON HELPS YOU AGAINST HILLARY!!!! Why aren't you insisting he is included in the debates or polls? I know he would make the Donald look bad, relatively speaking, but Trump supporters won't be swayed by a debate, and he would make Hillary and her supposed civil rights stands look ridiculous by comparison. Or is the DNC actually running the debates?
