Thank goodness for the Patient Affordable Care Act.
The administration admitted today that huge increases in premiums are coming to a healthcare.gov site near you.
The good news? I am trying to be objective, after all. More people than ever are "insured". Of course there are qualifiers. Most of the people signing up were probably eligible for Medicaid to start with. That is right. We wrecked the private health care market, threw billions down all sorts of bottomless pits of bureaucracies, so that people that could have had Medicaid, now have Medicaid.
More good news? We have created a whole new class of law breakers. Remember, you are REQUIRED to have insurance. If you don't, by definition, you are a LAWBREAKER, a criminal. Since the healthy are not signing up, the numbers are screwed, thus the massive increases in premiums. (remember, they were supposed to go DOWN on the average, by $2500)
The best part? It's not even fully implemented. I give credit to the administration for not trashing Hillary's chances even more.
Even the bankrupt entitlement programs that we now hold dear as they crumble, Social Security, and Medicare, were passed with bipartisan support. The Great Society, while primarily passed by Democrats, had some GOP support. How much support did the monstrosity of Obamacare have from the GOP? NONE! And when the whining goes on about how the GOP has offered no alternatives, well, not true.
Oh, one thing, I forgot to mention. The state of Oregon conducted what is to be considered to be the gold standard of health care studies. Oregon, not a red state, but a true blue. Result? If you have medicaid, you are WORSE OFF than not having any insurance.
We have been saying all along that it was a horrible plan. We have been saying all along there were so many better ways to help those that didn't have insurance. So much cheaper and less devastating to those that are on the private insurance market. Could the system been purposely designed to fail? If so, why?
Single payer. Many nations have it. It is the holy grail of progressive policies. I have two letters for you.
VA. The model for single payer in this country. How is that working out for those that offered themselves in defense of our nation? Yeah.
